Principal – Laurie Konicek
St. Margaret Mary School welcomed Laurie Konicek as Principal in 2013.
Mrs. Konicek spent nineteen years as principal of St. Catherine Laboure School in Glenview, Illinois, before assuming her current role as principal. She was also a teacher at St. Catherine Laboure, St. Eugene, and St. Benedict School in Chicago. Mrs. Konicek holds a degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision.
Upon entering SMM, Mrs. Konicek found the school warm, friendly, and ready for some new endeavors in education. She now has been instrumental in guiding the school into PowerSchool, Go-Math Digital Program for Junior High, Quest and Focus, a rich differentiation program for 6th – 8th grade, Outdoor Education, and a new School Board.
Mrs. Konicek is positioned to hold the strong values and academic rigor of the school. She deeply cares about the well-being of each child stressing individualized attention, creative learning, and character development. Mrs. Konicek likes to lead and learn with curiosity, compassion, and humor.
Administrative Assistant – Diane Herold
A prior teaching assistant at St. Margaret Mary and at St. Martha, Diane Herold now helps keep the school running smoothly by serving as the school’s administrative assistant. She graduated with a Fine Arts Degree from The Art Institute of Chicago and enjoys her position and the opportunity it provides to see students grow.
