Teaching Philosophy
“I believe that each child is a unique individual, and I hope to provide a secure, caring environment in which the children can grow and mature.  Various opportunities in the classroom will tap into the different ways in which children learn so each child will be able to reach their full potential.  It is my role as an educator to develop an environment that is safe and diversifies instruction and practice to meet their individual needs.  The classroom environment promotes respect for all things and all people.”

Why I Teach at St. Margaret Mary School
“ At St. Margaret Mary the teachers, parents/guardians and staff all work together to create a caring environment for our students. I enjoy working with first grade students because their response is pure enthusiasm for the joy of learning. The joy of seeing the children succeed and develop as the year progresses is my inspiration to teach at St. Margaret Mary. Every year I am reminded that it is a privilege to bring the love of learning and pleasures of reading to a group of students.”

Michelle Signa

Qualifications
Michelle Signa graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education from Fontbonne College in St. Louis, Missouri. Teaching opportunities took her to Omaha, Nebraska and Houston, Texas prior to joining St. Margaret Mary School. Teaching at the early elementary level is her passion.

Teaching Philosophy

“Primary grades form the groundwork for learning which carries all through a child’s education. Second grade, which I teach, builds on the fundamentals introduced in kindergarten and first grade. Children this age are engaged, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. Their creativity, spontaneity, and individuality, in conjunction with her enthusiasm and experience, make for a classroom environment that fosters learning, and encourages independence.

As an educator of second graders, my enjoyment comes from watching them mature educationally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.  That I am a cornerstone in a child’s educational life brings great personal satisfaction.”

Why I Teach at St. Margaret Mary School
“St. Margaret Mary School values its children, families, teachers, and community. It fosters an environment of compassion and understanding that extends beyond the walls of the school and into our neighborhood. As a teacher, interacting with children who are eager to learn, exchanging ideas and communicating with parents/guardians and peers, being a part of an institution that promotes community service, and engaging in the faith of our church, are compelling and compassionate reasons that I enjoy being part of St. Margaret Mary School.”

My Interests Outside of the Classroom

“Simply put, the most important thing to me is my family. Spending time sharing a meal, enjoying an outing, taking vacations — these are the things that keep me busy outside the classroom.”

Teaching Philosophy
“I believe that all students are capable and curious learners, and with the guidance and support of an enthusiastic and nurturing teacher, students will thrive. I believe in a classroom that promotes kindness, respect for others, and recognizes the uniqueness and interests of all students.  I believe that a teacher is a guide and has a responsibility to pave the way to success for students through a variety of activities that help meet academic, social, emotional, and spiritual needs. Students should feel comfortable, supported, and challenged. They should feel proud of their successes and have fun while learning.”

Why I Teach at St. Margaret Mary School
“I began my career at St. Margaret Mary School right out of college and was so thrilled to be able to live out my faith and support Catholic Education.  I stayed because it truly won my heart!  The feeling of family and community is so strong and makes working with the students feel like a pleasure instead of a job. I am incredibly blessed to work with a dedicated staff that provides a wealth of inspiration and knowledge to me. I am also grateful to have students and families who love and appreciate our school family. My students’ excitement and love of learning further reinforces why I know I am in the right place.”
