Each year SMM students participate in the “Trout in the Classroom” program. Through this program the students – with the help of Middle School teacher, Mr. Miller – raise the trout from eggs to fingerlings. Students at all grade levels, from Pre-k to Grade 8 participate. The program helps the students: monitor the quality of tank water, engage in stream habitat study, learn to appreciate water resources, foster a conservation ethic, and grow to understand ecosystems. The finale is the “Trout Release” where the students release the trout to their new home in Lake Michigan.
Each homeroom celebrated with some sweet treats and a Party.
